Optimizing Human Happiness Through Science
JOYD exists to support harm prevention and early intervention in mental health by funding research into the Pillars of Human Happiness and delivering public education initiatives, evidence-informed wellbeing resources, inspirational storytelling, and preventative wellness programs designed to reduce known risk factors associated with mental distress.
A World Where Happiness Is Accessible
JOYD Foundation exists to prevent suicide and self-harm by addressing the everyday factors that place people at risk of mental health decline.
Our flagship initiative, The 727k Run, is a suicide-prevention fundraising campaign built around a simple and confronting truth: over 727,000 people die by suicide globally each year.
Through the 727k Run, participants collectively walk or run 727,000 steps, one step for every life lost. Funds raised through the initiative directly support JOYD Foundation’s suicide-prevention activities, including public education, online resources & media, awareness campaigns, and community-based prevention programs.
The initiative promotes early intervention, physical movement, connection, and open conversation as proven protective factors against suicide and self-harm.
All educational resources, insights, and materials developed through our suicide-prevention initiatives are shared publicly and free of charge, ensuring accessibility for individuals, families, and communities.
